In the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, Allied forces began the largest airborne and amphibious assault in the history of warfare. 

Paratroopers of the 101st Airborne were among the first wave of Operation Overlord. The Screaming Eagles suffered great losses, but fought savagely and eventually won the Longest Day.
